The “cap” is made of abaca fibers. Manila hemp, also known as abaca, is a type of buff-colored fiber obtained from Musa textilis (a relative of edible bananas), which is likewise called Manila hemp as well as abaca. Abaca is an exceptionally strong fiber, very expensive, and priced several times higher than wood pulp. The name refers to the capital of the Philippines, one of the main producers of Manila hemp. Growing abaca plants can reduce erosion, increase biodiversity, and enrich the soil. Finally, it is water and moisture resistant.
MAINTENANCE:
